ENGAGING WITH RESIDENTS

After our initial visit to Denver we were faced with the reality that Denver is different from the environment we were used to based on the way we approached stuff to the way in which we communicated so we as a group decided to create guidelines that will help us work in collaboration with Denver without clashing or creating conflict.

A SHORT POWERPOINT PRESENTATION REPRESENTING HOW WE SHOULD DEAL WITH DENVER IN AN ETHICAL WAY

Here are some images showing the making process of the power point and some of the drawings that really influenced how we dealt with Denver and its surrounding :

'STATE YOUR INTENTION'
as we approach Denver community members it is important for us to be open and visible and let them know why we are around so as to not alarm them. (Rudelle Bezuidenhout)

'DO NO HARM'
we as a group wanted to make sure that we never did anything on site to hurt community member or the informal settlement of Denver. (Rudelle Bezuidenhout)

'COMMON GROUND'
it is important for us as a group to find a common ground with our Denver community representative and the Denver community as a whole. (Kholokazi Ngoma)

'EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION'
after having visited Denver we found many of the community members had basic education and we needed to make sure we communicated effectively that being both through verbal and written communication. (Kgao)

'COMMON ETHICS'

This image talks to the common ethics we share as human beings such as respect, honesty and openness. (Binaica Morar)

'DRIVING CONTRIBUTION'
we as students needed to put our all in the process so we can drive the process of positive change for Denver . (Kgao)

'PROGRESS'
we found it important to make sure that community members contribution towards this process was acknowledged and highly valued. Part of that process was to show them our process and make them a part of it. (Rudelle Bezuidenhout)
